Privacy

The protection of your data is important to me. Therefore I inform you in the following sections about how your data will be processed and what rights you have with regard to data processing.

Subject of data protection are personal data. This is all information relating to an identified or identifiable person. This includes information such as names, postal addresses, e-mail addresses or telephone numbers, but also usage data such as your IP address or messages sent to me via forms.

The use of this website is generally possible without providing personal data. An exception is your IP address, which must be processed during your visit to the website for technical reasons in order to be able to display this website at all. Please read the following section on the IP address.

If you use the comment function activated in some articles on this website, personal data will be transferred. This is always done on a voluntary basis. Your data will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent.

I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that data transmission on the Internet may be subject to security gaps. A complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

IP address

Technically, the Internet would not function without the assignment of Internet protocol addresses or IP addresses. An IP address is used in computer networks to uniquely identify a device in the network. Because both the server and your device receive or have an IP, both are able to communicate with each other.

When you enter the address of this website in your browser, the browser first makes a request to a global directory to determine the IP address of the called domain.

If the browser finds something, it then sends a request to the IP of the server so that it can send the requested URL of the website to your browser, i.e. your IP. The transmission takes place in the form of individual small data packets. During this process, the server processes your IP.

Data collected by the provider

The provider, i.e. the company that makes the server available for this website, automatically collects and stores, also for legal reasons, information in so-called log files, which your browser automatically transmits when you access this website.

Internal log files

The provider collects access data to the server and stores them in internal log files which are not available to me as a customer. The domain, the IP, the requests, the user agent, a time stamp and a status code are stored in these log files. These log files are stored for a period of three days and then deleted.

Apache Logfiles

The provider keeps the so-called Apache access log or the log files of the web server for three days and then discards them. The following data is stored in the log file:

  • Browser, its type and version
  • Operating system
  • URL of the reference (referrer) and URL called up
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request

As a customer, I have the option of obtaining a copy of these log files by configuring the domain. This option has been disabled for this website. Thus no log files are stored by me. Further information can be found in German here: Datensicherheit bei DomainFactory.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser. They do no damage to your computer and contain no viruses.

This website uses cookies, which also serve to make my offer more user-friendly and effective. Most of the cookies I use are so-called session cookies. They are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies also enable me to recognize your browser on my next visit. Furthermore, I also use analysis tools and connected advertising providers also set cookies. Please also read the corresponding sections with further details.

The first time you visit this website, a message about the cookies will appear. If you close the notice, a cookie is set so that you no longer receive the notice when you visit the website.

However, you can also set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies, only allow cookies in individual cases or exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in principle. For more information about cookies and how to delete them, see allaboutcookies.org.

SSL encryption

This website uses SSL encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of content, such as the use of forms. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from http to https and displays a lock symbol in your browser line. If SSL encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Content Delivery Network (CDN)

I use a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to optimize the speed of the website. It is used on the basis of my legitimate interest in optimising my online offer within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 letter f. GDPR.

A CDN is used to store part of the website, such as graphics, scripts and other static content, in a server network distributed worldwide. These servers provide a regional copy of the aforementioned content so that users from the regions can retrieve the data more quickly.

This website uses Microsoft Azure as a CDN service provider. To connect to Microsoft Azure, this website uses a WordPress plugin that stores static content on a server in the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Microsoft Azure then takes care of the distribution of this content in the network. User data is processed solely for the aforementioned purposes and to maintain the security and functionality of the CDN.

Microsoft is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and thus offers a guarantee to comply with European data protection law. Further information can be found on this website: Privacy Shield Microsoft.

Microsoft's privacy policy can be found on this website privacy.microsoft.com.

Google services

The following Google services are used by me on this website. Google LLC is a company with the US legal form Limited Liability Company (LLC) with headquarters in Mountain View, California with the address: 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

The services are used on the basis of my legitimate interests - analysis, optimisation, uniform presentation and economic operation of my online offer - within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. GDPR.

Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and thus offers a guarantee to comply with European data protection law. Further information can be found on this website: Privacy Shield Google.

Google's privacy policy, which applies to all of the services listed below, can be found on the following page: policies.google.com/privacy

Google Analytics

Google Analytics serves me for the analysis of the use of the website. Google Analytics generates a cookie for this purpose. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

Google uses this information on my behalf to evaluate the use of this website. These include, for example, reports on the number of visits within a period or on the pages accessed. Google also uses this information to provide me with other services associated with the use of this online offer and Internet usage. Pseudonymous user profiles can be created from the processed data. Users' personal data will be deleted or made anonymous after 14 months.

Google Analytics is only used by me with activated IP anonymization. This will cause your IP address to be cut by Google within Member States of the European Union or in other countries party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by your browser in the context of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

A corresponding setting in your browser can prevent cookies from being saved. In addition, a browser plug-in can be used to deactivate Google Analytics so that your activities on the website are no longer available for Google Analytics or are transferred to Google. You can find the plugin here: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

The terms of use for Google Analytics can be found in various languages at www.google.com/analytics/terms.

Google AdSense

This website uses the Google service AdSense, which displays ads on the website and rewards me for displaying or otherwise using them. For this purpose, usage data such as the click on an advertisement and the IP address of the user are processed. The IP address is shortened by the last two digits and thus pseudonymized. It cannot be excluded that one or more cookies may be set during the insertion of the advertisements.

Google AdSense is used on this site with non-personalized ads. The ads are not displayed on the basis of user profiles. In addition, such ads are not based on past user behavior. Targeting uses contextual information, including rough geographical targeting based on the current location, the content on the current website or current search terms. Google prevents any personalized targeting, including demographic targeting and targeting based on user lists.

Further information on data protection and the technologies used in Google Ads and advertising can be found on this website: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Google Fonts

This website uses so-called web fonts provided by Google for uniform presentation. When calling up a page, your browser preferably loads the required font from your browser cache. If these are not available, the font is retrieved from Google. For more information about Google Web Fonts, please see developers.google.com/fonts/faq and the Google Privacy Policy.

Google YouTube

Some pages of this website may contain YouTube videos. The service is provided by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, on behalf of Google.

When you visit a page with an embedded YouTube video, a connection to YouTube's servers is established. YouTube is informed which pages you visit. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can associate your surfing habits with you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.

When a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behavior. However, if you have deactivated the storage of cookies for Google advertising, you should not expect such cookies even when watching YouTube videos.

Youtube may also store non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you also wish to prevent this, you must block the saving of cookies in your browser. You can find further information on data protection at Google's data protection website.

Matomo (Piwik)

The web analysis tool Matomo (formerly Piwik) is used to analyse the reach of this website. Matomo is installed on the same server as the website itself. All analysis data thus remain on this server and will not be passed on to third parties. The use of Matomo is based on my legitimate interest in the analysis and optimization of my website within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 letter f. GDPR.

Matomo collects the browser you are using, its type and version, the operating system used, information about the screen size used and the device, e.g. a mobile phone. Matomo also records the URL called up, a reference URL (referrer), the date and time of the call and the length of your visit to the website. Your IP address will be made anonymous before it is saved. Matomo may use cookies to collect the data.

You can prevent Matomo from collecting data by setting the following option accordingly. Please note that a cookie is set to prevent Matomo from collecting it in future visits to this website. If you delete the cookie, you must reset this setting the next time you visit the site.

Social Networks

No plugins or external scripts from social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ or other providers are integrated into this website. You will find, mostly in the sidebar of this website, only a link to one of my accounts in these networks.

On some pages of this website you have the possibility to leave a comment on a voluntary basis. To do this, select a user name or a pseudonym under which the comment is to be published. Furthermore, an e-mail address is required. Specifying a website is optional.

Comments are always moderated and must be activated by me. This also applies if you have already commented on the website.

The username you have chosen will be publicly displayed after the comment has been published, as will the content text of your comment. The e-mail address will not be displayed and will only be used for any queries in connection with your comment. The e-mail address will not be passed on to third parties.

Your IP address is stored at the time of commenting and will not be used again. Except in the case of rights violations such as insults or propaganda against the author to be able to proceed.

Forms

On this website, you can use an online form to have Microsoft Excel functions and/or Excel formulas translated from one language into another. When you use this form, the names of the Microsoft Excel functions, the selected source language, the selected target language and a time stamp are recorded for statistical purposes and stored in a database on this server.

Contents in transmitted Microsoft Excel formulas, such as texts or references, are only processed for translation purposes and are not stored. Likewise, no user-related data such as your IP address or other data is stored.

This website uses one or more plugins for security purposes, such as automated detection of spam comments or to defend against attacks or unauthorized login attempts. The following plugins with relevance to data protection are used on this website.

Antispam Bee

This website uses the WordPress plugin Antispam Bee for automated spam detection. According to the developers, Antispam Bee is GDPR-compliant as well as open source software, which you can find under the following link: Antispam Bee on GitHub.

If you would like to contact me, you are free to send me an e-mail to the address displayed in the imprint. This happens independently of this website and with the help of your e-mail program. Your contact details and the message will be treated confidentially by me and will not be passed on to third parties, for example.

Your rights

Regardless of the above, you can object to the use of your data at any time and revoke your consent to the use of your data at any time. You can also have the data processed by us corrected, blocked or deleted at any time.

I expressly point out that there may be legal obligations to continue storing data until the expiry of certain deadlines. In this case, the data can initially only be limited according to Art. 18 GDPR, i.e. the data can only be processed for the purpose of fulfilling the legal storage obligations but no longer for any other purposes. After expiry of the retention periods, these will then be deleted.

As of 25 May 2018, you also have the right to data transfer pursuant to Art. 20 DGVO and the right of appeal to a supervisory authority within the meaning of Art. 77 GDPR. Note: this may apply only for EU-citizens.

If you revoke your consent to data processing or object to the use of the data, this does not affect the legality of data processing until the time of revocation.

In addition, you have a right to know what data we store about you. This data protection declaration already contains all necessary information. However, we will be happy to inform you separately.

To exercise the above rights, please send an e-mail to the mentionned e-mail adress in the imprint section. Responsible for data processing is Mourad Louha.

Other notes

I reserve the right to occasionally adapt this data protection declaration so that it always complies with current legal requirements or to implement changes to my services in the data protection declaration, for example when introducing new services. The new data protection declaration will then apply for your next visit.
